DISA - Remote Dialtone or "Dial In, Dial Out"

DISA is a great feature in your NebulaPBX phone system.  It is also known as Remote Dialtone, or "Dial In, Dial Out".

This lets you dial into your system from a remote number, get a dial tone, and dial out using your office number.

Using DISA does require that you have some kind of main menu IVR, so you can call in and access the DISA extension.  DISA won't be accessible if you have inbound calls going directly to a Ring Group, but you could have an Operator answer and then transfer you to the DISA extension manually.

To setup DISA, follow these steps.

  1. Log into your cloud phone system
  2. Go to Applications > DISA
  3. Click the Add DISA button
  4. Enter a Name (label) for your DISA extension, such as your business name, user group name, or maybe just the 10 digit number you plan to use
  5. Enter a PIN code to protect your DISA from unauthorized users
  6. Leave the other options at default, including Caller ID (leave it blank or your calls may appear to be "unknown")
  7. Click Submit and then Apply Changes.
The extension has been created, but still needs to be made available to you...
  8. Now go to Applications > IVR
  9. Add a menu option, such as dialing 555, and set destination to DISA, specifically the new DISA you just created
  10. Submit and then Apply Changes to complete setup

To use DISA feature, assuming it is setup in your IVR menu, do the following steps.

  1. Call your Clone Line number and wait for the IVR menu to answer
  2. During the menu, choose the menu option you created in step 9 above, such as 555
  3. Enter your PIN code (change this PIN periodically for better security)
  4. You'll hear a new dial tone.  Go ahead and dial out as usual.  Hang up when done.

Notes:

We recommend in step 10 using a 2 or 3 digit menu option, rather than a 1 digit menu option.  Even though you also have a PIN, the more secure you make your DISA, the better.

Do NOT mention your DISA feature in your menu recording.  Only you need to know about it.

You can create multiple DISA extensions, for different employees or groups, so that if someone leaves your organization, you can delete their DISA extension to deny future access to them.
