Let's create a Virtual Extension, with Find Me / Follow Me, and foward it to your cell phone, or some other outside number.
1. Log into your phone system
2. Go to Applications > Extensions
3. Click the "+ Add New Extension" button, and select "New Virtual Extension"
4. Enter an extension number for the new extension
Tip: If your desk phone is ext 125, you might make your mobile extension 1125. Or use some other similar numbering method to help you associate, but differentiate, mobile extensions and regular extensions.
5. Enter a Display Name that can be anything you like to describe the extension, such as "John's Mobile"
Tip: Do NOT enter anything in the Outbound CID field. That will likely cause your outbound caller id to show up as "unknown". Just leave it blank.
6. Click the Find Me / Follow Me tab
7. Set the following options...
Enabled: Yes
Initial Ring Time: 0
Ring Strategy: [leave this set to ringallv2-prim]
Ring Time: [set to 5 seconds per ring you want... for 5 rings, set to 25 seconds]
Follow Me List: [enter the 10 digit number, plus # sign, that you want this extension to forward to, such as your cell phone number plus #]
You can pretty much leave the other options set to defaults, unless you want to set an Announcement or change the Music on Hold setting.
Tip: You might want to change the Destination - No Answer setting, such as if you don't answer, you can send callers to an operator, or specific mailbox.
8. Click Submit, and then the RED Apply Changes button
You should now have a forwarding extension that you can dial, transfer, or use in menus.
Tip: You can also set this extension in the Find Me / Follow Me list of your desktop extension. So your desktop phone and mobile phone can both ring.
Tip: You normally leave voicemail disabled on these types of extensions. If you want callers to reach your mobile voicemail, set Ring Time very long, like 60 seconds. If you prefer callers to timeout and roll back to your "Destination No Answer", then set the Ring Time short enough that your cellular voicemail does not pick up.
