This is a tip for clients who use the Attended Transfer feature a lot, and want to see original caller's info, instead of the tranferring agent's info.
If you use Blind Transfer, this article will not apply, as it already shows original caller info.
Let's assume we have 3 parties, including an outside party calling into your system, plus two inside agents.
Party 1, Original Caller
Party 2, First Agent to answer
Party 3, Agent you are transferring to
The default behaviour of an Attended Transfer is to show the Party 1 during inbound call. But when Party 2 answers, and does an attended transfer to Party 3, The CID shows Party 2's info.
You can change this, so that Party 2's info will show during the Attended Transfer, but as soon as the transfer is completed (put through), then Party 1's info will be put through for remainder of the call.
To make this change, log into your phone system, go to Applications > Extensions and click an extension you want to adjust.
From the extension edit screen, go to the Advanced tab and change the setting below.
Send RPID : Send Remote-Party-ID Header
Click Submit and Apply Changes.
If you want to modify multiple extensions, repeat the above steps for each extension.
Note: This has been tested with Yealink phones. Other brands may require additional tweaks in the phone's settings. Check with the manufacturer or owner's manual for details on RPID.
